C’est en 2004, lorsque la Turquie recevait le concours, que le logo coeur Eurovision ainsi que les demi finales ont été introduits.
La Turquie n’a manqué qu’une seule qualification en finale depuis l’introduction des demi finales et jusqu’à son retrait en 2012.
Le pays a quitté le concours car il était en désaccord avec la création du Big 5 et de la qualification directe de 5 pays pour la finale. Depuis, des discussions sont entretenues afin le pays revienne dans la compétition.
